I've been working on this piece since early April. I almost gave up on it a few times, but I'm glad I finished, because I can truly say this is the hardest I've worked on any one digital painting thus far. I got inspired to paint this after watching Memoirs of a Geisha. The original was done at a much higher resolution than I usually do. It was quite a challenge, but I enjoyed painting it. I actually put a lot more hours into the background than the character, which is very rare for me, and something I really need to focus on.

This was done entirely in Photoshop CS.

This is probably the best piece I'm seen in a very, VERY long time. The detail is amazing, and I honestly though that you had really painted it before I took a closer look.

An absolutely stunning work of art - probably the best I have seen recently. I love the composition and colour - but adore the expressiveness of the young woman and the soft etherealness of the piece as a whole.

I am just getting into digital painting - can definately learn by watching you...

I loved the movie; Memoirs of a Geisha. This is a beautiful picture and the coloring is so well done!
